So I'm going to press Command + Q on my keyboard, and then I'm going to eject the installer DMG file here. I'll move it just after my Google Chrome there, and now when I close it, it'll come right back up. The way you get to keep something in your dock is you simply just move it, and so I'm going to move it over here. Now you'll notice that because it's running it shows up here in the dock, but if I close it, it will go away. That language happens to be just fine for my purposes, so I'm going to select OK. Now it's installed and I'm going to select Run here, and say Done, and when it runs, the first thing it does is it asks me to choose a language. Everything here is selected and it's fine, it's more than what we need but it works fine, it doesn't take up a lot of space on the drive so I'll just hit continue, with all of the defaults, and select Install. And now we get a installation wizard, and we hit Continue, and we just accept the defaults here. So I actually have to Control + Click, and say Open, and then it gives me the opportunity to open this.

And inside there you see the InstallSQLiteStudio app, so I just double-click on that, and you notice that it doesn't give me the opportunity to actually install it, because it's not signed. So I'm going to double-click on that, it's a DMG file, which means that it opens as an attached drive on a Mac. And I've already saved the download on my desktop. I've already installed it on this Mac, and there it is, BBEdit, and there it is opened with some SQL in it. You may install it from the App Store here. The free edition will do everything you need for the purposes of this course. It's available in both free and paid editions. BBEdit is a full-featured programmer's editor. Unfortunately the TextEdit program that ships with macOS doesn't work well for this purpose either and so for the Mac I suggest BBEdit.

The formatting information will actually interfere with SQL code in this example files, so a word processor will not work for this purpose. A word processor is designed for writing documents and includes a lot of formatting information along with the text. A plain text editor is different than a word processor. The SQLiteStudio package includes the database system along with a management system, and we'll install this later in this lesson. SQLite is a simple compact standards-compatible database management system, that's easy to install and cross-platform compatible. You'll need a compatible database system.
